膜蛋白在所有物种的生命活动中都起着至关重要的作用,帮助物质、能量以及信号实现跨生物膜的传递。在已知的基因组测序中,30%左右的基因负责编码膜蛋白。大约50%的药物分子靶向膜蛋白,这些都显示出膜蛋白具有重要的生物学和医学研究意义。本实验室的研究方向是利用冷冻电子显微术、电生理实验以及其他生物化学手段研究神经系统中重要的膜蛋白复合物的三维结构,并阐明这些复合物工作的分子机制。
